In re John Doyle deceased.

In the name of God Amen, I John Doyle of the Parish of Cahir in the county Tipperary Ireland, but at present a resident of St. John's, Newfdland, being sickly but of perfect sound mind and memory & calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this to be my last will & testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul to the Almighty God who gave it and my body I recommend to the earth to be buried in decent Christian burial not doubting but the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God And as touching such worldly wealth wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with in this life, I give and bequeath the same in the following manner & form, I give & bequeath six pounds cy for my funeral expenses I give & bequeath to my brother Edmund Doyle now living in the Parish of Cahir Ireland the sum of twenty pounds cy to be paid as soon as it can be obtained after my death. I give and bequeath to my nephew Thomas Doyle son to my brother Patrick Doyle the sum of ten pounds cy I give and bequeath unto Rev. K. Walsh the sum of five pounds cy for Masses for my father, mother, brothers and sisters, I give and bequeath to the Rev. J. Forristall the sum of five pounds cy. I give and bequeath to the Rev. ____ Conden the sum of ten pounds cy for Masses for myself & Gillan Mahony. I give & bequeath unto my nephew Edmd Doyle now residing in St. John's the sum of ten pounds cy I give and bequeath to the Rev. Mackin of Brigus By North the sum of five pounds cy. I give and bequeath to the Rev. Thos O'Conner the sum of five pounds cy. I give & bequeath Rt Rev. Doctor Fleming the sum of five pounds cy for the same purpose. & I give and bequeath five pounds cy for the building of the Cathedral. I give & bequeath to the Nuns of the Presentation Convent the sum of five pounds cy. I give & bequeath to my son William Doyle the sum of sixty five pounds cy now ledged in the Savings Bank. I give and bequeath to the Rev. J. O'Donnell the sum of five pounds cy for Masses for my soul. I give and bequeath to the indigent poor the balance of whatever money remains in the hands of the executors except and reserving for Thomas Hefferman my attendant to whom I give & bequeath the sum of four pounds cy, and I do hereby nominate and appoint Mr. Edmond Kennedy and Mr. James Farrel both of St. John's executors of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking and declaring null & void all former wills & deeds of Gift made by me at any time heretofore and I do ordain these presents to stand hereby ratifying and confirming this to be my last will and testament.
In witness whereof to this my last will & testament I have set my hand & seal at St. John's Newfdland this twenty fifth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty seven.

In the name of God Amen, I John Doyle of the Parish of Cahin in the county Tipperary Ireland, but at present a resident of St. Johns, Newfoundland, being sickly but of perfect sound mind and memory I calling to mind the mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this to be my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul to the Almighty God who gave it. In the Supreme Court Newfoundland St. Johns to wit Charles O'Donnell of St. Johns in the Central District dealer and William McGrath of the same place fisherman severally make oath and say that they were present and did see John Doyle in the within paper writing named duly set his mark to publish and declare the said paper writing as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of these deponents and Edmund Kennedy and James Farrell the other subscribing Witnesses to the same. And these deponents further say that the said paper writing was read over and explained to the said John Doyle and that he fully understood the same. And these deponents lastly say that the said John Doyle at the time of publishing his said will was of sound mind, memory and understanding to the best of these Deponents knowledge and belief. - William McGrath, Charles O'Donnell ~
