Pastor of St. Joseph's Church in Yonkers Dies at 72
Yonkers July 3 (AP)- The Rev. Thomas F. Prendergast who officiated at the wedding of former
Postmaster General James A. Farley died today in the rectory of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic
Church, of which he was pastor. His age was 72. Father Prendergast was born in Ireland and came
to this country in his youth. He studied at St. Mary's College, Emmittsburg, Md. and St. Joseph's
Seminary here and was ordained in 1909. Father Prendergast had served parishes in Haverstraw,
Newburgh, Milton and Cornwall. He belonged to the Knights of Colombus and the Waterford
Association. Survivors include a brother John, and a sister Margaret, both of Ireland.
