Elizabeth Kennedy deceased.

In the name of God Amen, I Elizabeth Kennedy of the town St. John’s Widow being old and drawing near my latter end but of perfect soundness of mind and memory of body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once die do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recomend my soul into the hand of Almighty God that gave it and my body I commend to the earth to be buried in decent Cristian burial at the discretion of my exceutors nothing doubting but at the general resurrectin at the last day I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner, first I give and bequeath my beloved son Laurence Kennedy all my house and lands household goods and chattles of every description to have and to hold the same during his lifebut if he the said Laurence Kennedy should die before his wife shee shall hold the said housees and lands while shee remains a widow but no longer should shee marry the aforesaid lands houses &c. shall decend to ny grandchildren to be equally divided between them but the above land houses &c. or no part there of shall not be morgaged or sold so long as any branch of the family remain but he the said Laurence Kennedy shall on his part support and provide for me sufficient support so long as I live and to pay every expense of my funerl at my decease. I also constitute make and ordain the said Laurence Kennedy to be my sole executor of this my last will and testament all and singular my lands messuages and tenements by him freely to be possessed and enjoyed and I do hereby utterly revoke and disannul all former testaments wills legacies bequests and executors by me before in any wise named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this____day of March 26th aNd in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven. Elizabeth (her mark) X Kennedy (LS) Signed sealed published and pronounced and declared by the said Elizabeth Kennedy as her last will and testament in presence of us who in her presence and in presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names, Thos. Coyell, John Freeman. And my will and meaning is in leaving the aforesaid property to my grandchildren it is children of Laurence and Nancy Kennedy and no others that are to have and to hold the aforesaid property witness my hand, Elizabeth (her mark) X Kennedy, Thos.
