Nicholas Mahany deceased.
I Nicholas Mahany of Carbonear in the Island of Newfoundland being of sound mind and memory and in good health generally do make and ordain this my last will and testament. (In pride) I give and bequeath to my eldest son William one third part of my western field that is to say the land under fence to the west of my dwelling house and of which he is to have the westernmost third being that on which his house is built on condition of his paying the sum of two pounds currency per annum as part of the sum of six pounds per annum due on a mortgage to Messers. Gosse, Peck & Pryer and continuing to pay the same as long as the amount of the said mortgage is to be paid (of which sum there is at present seventy three pounds now due). Item I give and bequeath to my second son Francis the third part of the said field being the middle or center division subject to the same conditions of discharging one third part of the said mortgage by an instalment of forty schillings annually until the amount be thus paid off. Item I give and bequeath to my third son John the remaining third of the said western field being the eastern division subject to the same conditions as each of the other sons, of paying the third part of the said mortgage. I also give and bequeath to my said son John my dwelling house, outhouses and cellar, together with the kitchen garden in front of the same; also the meadow on the south thereof bounded on the east by Richard Tuffin, and on the south by the main brook. And my wife is to be supported by my son John out of the produce of the Plantation, and to live in the house as now, during the term of her natural life. Item To my son John I give my household goods, comprising a bed, bedding and bedstead, chairs, tables, dog-irons and other articles of household furniture. Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Ann Cox a large looking glass. And I do hereby nominate William Willis Bemister and Mr. William Howell of Willm, executors of this my last will and testament. Dated at Carbonear Newfoundland March the twenty eighth one thousand eight hudred and thirty one. *Methodist burial Nicholas Mahany, age 70, June 23, 1831 Carbonear, Newfoundland. This is the great grandfather of Sophia Mahany (who married John Kennedy) her father was Josiah son of the eldest son William mentioned in the will. So Nicholas is my ggggfather and ggggm was
