Skipper Terrence Kennedy, (1845-1935) born in Carbonear, Newfoundland to Captain Nicholas Kennedy (1807-1881) and Julia Kennedy (1808) of Crocker's Cove. Paternal grandson of Capt. Nicholas Kennedy and Grace Young of Wexford, Ireland and maternal grandson of Terrence Kennedy and Mary Clarke of Crocker's Cove, Nfld. He married Mary Joy in 1869 at St. Patrick's RC parish in Carbonear and they had a large family of 10 children all baptized at the same parish. Below is a family portrait probably taken in Harbor Grace. Pictured with their seated parents Terrence and Mary (known to her nieces and nephews as Aunt Polly) Left to right are Julia Kennedy (m.Luke Hayden); Richard Kennedy (m. Mary Pumphrey); Mary "Josephine" Kennedy (m. Timothy Hogan); and we believe Thomas Kennedy (m.Catherine Coady/Cody). Missing are our John Kennedy (m. Sophia Mahaney); Nicholas Kennedy (m.Delia Holleran);William J.Kennedy; Patrick Kennedy; Elizabeth "Lillian"(m. Michael Connors). All children except Mary "Josephine" and Richard who was killed in WWI emigrated to Boston and Brooklyn. Julia and Thomas returned to Harbor Grace to marry and raise families; John Kennedy (1871-1943), Nicholas Kennedy (1870-1909), and Lillian Kennedy Connors eventually settled in Brooklyn; William was in Boston up until WWI then he went to Panama as a canal pilot and later to Seattle, Washington. Patrick Kennedy married Ann Connell in Carbonear, Newfoundland in 1909 and raised a family in Boston, Massachusetts
